Hello MRW,
We need to get ourselves started on CHRISTMAS! Yikes!!! That is Christmas Cards for our troops.
Please drag out your last year’s unused cards, shop the discount stores or your local WalMart and pick up a couple of boxes of great Christmas/holiday cards. Please write a brief and uplifting note of thanks in each card and sign it (you may want to include your e-mail address). Please DO NOT INSERT THE CARD IN THE ENVELOPE AND DO NOT SEAL!!! Also, NO STAMPS are needed and please do not write anything on the outside of the envelope. All of our cards will be sent together in bulk to our overseas contact for distribution.
You may bring the completed cards and the accompanying envelopes to the next meeting or mail them (all together in one envelope) to me (P.O. Box 136173 Fort Worth, TX 76136). I need to get them in the mail to our contact by November 20th.
Also, please remember October 30th our day to greet the troops! (**REMEMBER to call 972 574-0392 the night before and in the morning prior to your departure. The flights have been alternating between “D” terminal and “B” but, that changes daily so listen carefully.)
I have sent the last of our wonderful bags to Soldier’s Angels for distribution to our heroes. If you still have a bag, please feel free to fill it up and bring it on to the meetings. I shall continue to send the bags as long as anyone wants to fill them!
If you have questions, please feel free to call me (817 237 1658) or send me an e-mail. (msgtex@sbcglobal.net)
Your support and ongoing efforts on behalf of our troops is so amazing! The Christmas Card project will really get you in the mood for the holidays. You are all so great to help…my deepest appreciation goes out to you.
God bless you all and God Bless America!

HELP SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!
“ADOPT” A RED, WHITE & BLUE LIBERTY BAG!
Our new Military Affairs Chairman, Mary-Sheba Graves, has hit the ground running! Using her sewing talents, she’s transformed yards of patriotic fabric into fun Liberty Bags that can be filled with all sorts of good things for our troops.
Here’s how to help: At our May meeting, “adopt” a Liberty Bag from Mary-Sheba. Next, fill it up with all sorts of items from the following list, and then bring it back to Mary-Sheba at our July meeting. The bags will then be sent overseas to our troops. What a great project for this patriotic time of year!
Items and Instructions for filling Liberty Bags:
Paper (tablets) and pens,Sharpie Markers,Velcro Strips (found in the hardware section),Candies of all sorts - but NOT Chocolate (M&M’s are OK because of the hard covering);Cookies and bakery items (pre-wrapped - individual); Crackers (pre-wrapped - individual);Mints (not chocolate covered); Trail Mix and Snack Mix;Chewing gum; Nuts (all types);Coffee (individual packets); Hot cocoa mix and hot cider mix (individual packets); Gatorade (powdered);Dry foods (camping packets, Ramen noodles, mac and cheese etc.);Spices, salt and pepper;Smoked Oysters and sardines; Pringles chips(small tubes); Microwave popcorn; Dry soup mix;Cereal bars and granola bars; Small Microwaveable plates, bowls; Small (travel size) plastic containers with seal lids; Nail clippers; Eye Glass repair kits; Cotton Swabs (Travel Size); Playing Cards; Puzzle Books;ChapStick; Disposable razors; Travel size: lotions, shave cream, Sun screen; mouth wash; soap; deodorant ; Tissues; Hand-wipes; Camping/Travel hand towels; Ziploc bags (roll 10 up and secure with rubber bands);Safety pins;Sewing kit; Dice; Music CDs; Phone calling;cards;Toothpaste, toothbrushes and dental floss;Poker Chips; Travel board games; Dominoes; Shoe laces; Hand warmers; Lysol wipes; Travel packs of Wet Ones; Boot socks; Icy/hot patches; Foot Powder; Batteries (AA and D); Paper back books (not religious); Inflatable pillow; Disposable camera
WRITE A PERSONAL NOTE!!!! On a card or a piece of paper, write a note to the person who may receive your bag (DO NOT SEAL THE CARD/PAPER). Tell them how much you appreciate their service, how much you depend upon them to defend you and your family, that you are grateful for them, remind them that they are loved and supported here at home, and that you will do everything in your power to maintain that support. Write a note and KEEP THAT PROMISE IN YOUR HEART! If you would like to include your name, the group who supported this project, your e-mail address, your home address, etc. you may do so, but please remember that you may not get a response. THEY ARE BUSY!
As you complete your bag I would ask you to please, please offer up a prayer for the recipient of your bag! Use your imagination and search the aisles of a hardware store or a Dollar Store, and have a good time. Think of the man/woman who may receive your gift ..pray for their well-being and safe return to their family.
Thank you and God Bless America…home of the FREE because of the BRAVE!
